… says Nestor Binabo served in different capacities, deserves State’s honour
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri today paid condolence visits to the families of former Speaker of the State House of Assembly and former acting Governor Rt. Hon. Nestor Binabo, former Commissioner for Finance, Chief Stephen Ogullah (PhD), and Dr. Ibiba Sasime over the death of their sons.
At the condolence visit, Governor Diri described late Binabo as an elder statesman that has served the State in different capacities and needs to be given State honour.
“Today, we have lost an elder statesman, who has served this State in various capacities as member and Speaker of the State House of Assembly, and at a point in time, acting Governor of the State. So, we have come to console the wife, children and other family members, we pray the good Lord to give you the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
As a Government, this is one departed soul that we need to honour even in death, therefore, I have also directed that his body will be honoured first at the State House of Assembly because he was a Speaker of the State Assembly. Thereafter, as a former Governor, his body will be laid at the Executive Council Chambers before the Bayelsa State Executive Council, Government House,” Governor Diri stated
Governor Diri also condoled with the family of Ogullah, the people of Sagbama, the Sasime family, Igbogene and the entire Epie-Atissa people over the loss of their sons.
Governor Diri prayed to God to grant the families the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss.
On the Governor’s entourage were Hon. Oforji Oboku, member representing Yenagoa/Kolokuma/Opokuma Federal Constituency, Hon. Mitema Obodor, member representing Ogbia Federal Constituency, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, members representing Sagbama Constituency 1&2 in the House, Hon. Oyinke Godbless and Hon (retrd) Col. Bernard Kenibai, Hon. Solomon Agwana, People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Bayelsa State chapter, members of the State Executive Council and other top Government officials.
