… receives 9th President of IYC in Sampou

Bayelsa Governor, Senator Douye Diri has called on the newly elected 9th President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Worldwide, Sir. Jonathan Lokpobiri to put the Ijaw nation first before personal interest.

Governor Diri said this when he received the President and his Executive Committee in his country home of Sampou, in Koluama/Opokuma Local Government Area of the State.

The Governor also stressed the need for the Ijaw nation to be united and peaceful and that welcoming them to his residence clearly showed his endorsement of the new executive.

“First of all, put Ijaw nation first before personal interest. If you put your interest first, you will not succeed. Live up to your oath, don’t be the master, be the servant in humility, respect and honour,” Governor Diri stated.

Earlier, President of IYC, Jonathan Lokpobiri said the visit was to thank the Governor for the role he played in making the election that produced him peaceful.

The Commissioner for Ijaw National Affairs, Mr. Patrick Erasmus, had presented the new IYC Executive to the governor.
