……. ENDORSE GOVERNOR DOUYE DIRI FOR SECOND TERM
Governor Douye Diri has commended the Non Indigenes in Bayelsa for their peaceful coexistence with the Indigenes, and for contributing their quota to the socio-economic development of the state.
This is as he lauded the four blocks making the group for their unity and togetherness at the maiden edition of the Bayelsa Non Indigenes Cultural Festival.
The three-day event climaxed at the Dr Gabriel Okara Cultural on Saturday, where several states showcased their cultural heritage, via dance performances and food exhibition, with Traditional Rulers, Elders, Chiefs and their people in attendance.
The State Governor, who was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, High Chief Collins Cocodia, assured them of his government’s continuous support to all non Natives residing in the state.
He said prior to the prosperity adminstration, no fewer than three to four persons from the Non Natives were appointed in to government, but the current Diri adminstration have witnessed the appointment of over fifty (50) Non Bayelsans.
While commending the various communities for their beautiful display and performances, the Governor rallied them standby his government especially at the forthcoming Governorship election, so as to continue to deliver his campaign promises to all Bayelsans and its residents.
The Governor’s representative at the event, High Chief Collins Cocodia, announced the Yoruba community as the best performer of the day, and donated some cash reward to the community.
The Non-Indigenes, led by their leader, the Special Adviser on Non Indigenes, Mazi Onuma Johnson, extoled the Governor’s virtues and achievements, and endorsed him for a second term.
Dignitaries at the event included Commissioners of Culture and Tourism, and Ijaw Affairs, Hon. It Orugbani, and Hon. Patrick Erasmus, Technical Adviser on Public Affairs, High Chief Don Evarada Abednego, Director General, New Media, Dr. Kola Oredipe, among others.
