Support Diri now, Domkpee tells APC members as INEC excludes Sylva’s name from candidates’ list

Yenagoa—A Special Assistant to Governor Douye Diri on New Media, Mr. John Domkpee has hailed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for excluding the Bayelsa APC governorship candidate, Chief Timipre Sylva, and his running mate, Great Joshua MacIver, in its recently published list of candidates for the November 11 poll.

The move, according to Domkpee, is a testament to INEC’s adherence to the constitution and its commitment to conduct the November 11 election in line with the provisions of the electoral act.

Domkpee in a statement issued in Yenagoa on Wednesday also hailed the Federal High Court verdict disqualifying Sylva and his running mate.

“It is a good omen to Bayelsans as the duo has nothing meaningful to offer the state, considering the sterling leadership Governor Douye Diri is demonstrating,” he stated.

He therefore urged supporters of the APC guber candidate to reconsider their loyalty to Sylva and pledge their support to Diri.

Domkpee said: “I want to use this medium to urge the few supporters of Sylva to stop wasting their time and join forces with the Miracle Governor who is focused on rendering purposeful leadership to all Bayelsans despite party and other differences.

“Sylva will not be on the ballot. He is not qualified to run for governor again. The Federal High Court was very right to have given that historical judgment and I am sure both the appellate and apex courts will uphold that judgment.

“Even if he scales through, which I strongly doubt, there is no way he can win our popular Governor who is loved and desired by Bayelsans to continue his good works.”

The governor’s aide further noted that “Bayelsa APC supporters should recall how Sylva’s failed leadership has brought defeats and disappointments to them for countless years.

“I expect them to get tired of such bad experiences and join the winning party and take part in the governance process of the state.”

He said that November 11 will be an unprecedented day where all eligible Bayelsans will go to their polling units to ratify the reelection of Governor Diri as a reward for good governance in the last four years.
