Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Douye Diri today graced the orientation programme for elected officials of Local Government Councils at Perdis Hotel, Yenagoa.
The orientation programme is aimed at educating newly elected local government officials of the state.
In his remark, Gov. Diri stated that the orientation programme is designed to empower the newly elected local government officials on how to run their councils effectively.
“I extend my warmest congratulations to you all and bid you welcome to the Prosperity train.
You have been entrusted with the mandate to serve and uplift our rural dwellers and communities. I have no doubt you will work diligently to fulfill this obligation and duties effectively”, Gov. Diri stated.
He also said that his administration had clean up the Local Government system where the councils now apart from having savings equally have resources to take up projects after salary payments.
Dignitaries at the programme were the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrujakpo, Speaker of Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere, Chairman of PDP, Hon. Solomon Agwana, Chief of Staff Government House, Dr. Peter Akpe, Deputy Chief of Staff Government House, Mr. Iroromidie Komonibo and top government functionaries.
