Take Advantage Of Abundant Opportunities in Bayelsa-Gov. Diri Charges 2024 Batch B, Stream 2 Corps Members
Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has advised Corps members deployed to the State to take advantage of the abundant opportunities in the State.
Gov. Diri, gave the advice during the 2024 Batch B, Stream 2 closing ceremony held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Boro Town, in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of the State.
The State chief executive, also urged them to leverage on the vast opportunities to serve the nation, develop themselves and impact their host communities.
Represented his Executive Assistant on NYSC Matters, Dr Wisdom Poyeri, the governor noted that the state is viable for corps members who are creative, hard working and innovative.
Governor Diri, assured them of welfare packages especially, those who will distinguish themselves in community development service.
He advised them to be bold and innovative during and after the service year,reminding them that service year in the State is not merely to fulfil a requirement, but to make a lasting impact.
Describing the people of Bayelsa as hospitable and accommodating, the number citizen urged the people of the state to accept the corps members, assist them as well as teach them the language and culture of the host communities.
The governor further urged them to be role models to other youths, students and pupils and mentor them to be responsible citizens and future leaders.
Declaring the 2024 Batch B, Stream 2 orientation programme closed, Governor Diri wished them
a successful service year.
Earlier, State Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Obiageli Okpalifo commended the corps members and camp officials for ensuring a hitch free orientation course.
Mrs Okpalifo, who charged them to render quality service to the State and the nation at large, encouraged corps members to leave a positive indelible footprints in their respective host communities.
The State NYSC coordinator also warned them against any act capable of putting their lives in danger and truncate their service year, especially negative use of the social media.
She equally warned the members against night travel, absenteeism and always adhere strictly to safety measures while traveling through the river.
Reminding them that primary assignment runs simultaneously with Community Development Service, Mrs Okpalifo urged them to identify the needs of host community, initiate and execute viable CDS projects that will enhance the wellbeing of the people.
The State NYSC top brass, assured them that the Government has put in place a reward system for corps members who distinguished themselves during the service year.
