Oversight Visit: Lawmakers happy with progress of ongoing projects in Bayelsa

Members of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly Committee on Works, has embarked on an inspection tour of ongoing projects across the state for on-the-spot assessment and ensure the projects are executed to specification.

Projects inspected were, the ongoing Angiama-Oporoma bridge, Dualisation of Tombia-Amassoma road, Gloryland drive phase 3, Opolo -Elebele road dualisation, new commissioners and legislative quarters at New Yenagoa City, Onopa, and the Imgbi junction bridge.

Speaking with journalists shortly after the exercise,  Chairman of the Committee, Retired Colonel Benard Kenebai, said the tour which was part of the committee’s oversight functions, expressed satisfaction with the quality of work done at the various sites.

Retired Colonel Kenebai, who noted that the level of work done at the sites was commensurate with the funds released, appreciated the governor for the judicious use of funds earmarked for projects across board.

The lawmaker also commended CCECC for its unwavering commitment to delivering projects within stipulated timeline while maintaining compliance with highest quality standards.

Also speaking, some members of the committee, Mr Edwin Monday-Obolo and Ted Elemeforo, said vithe visit became necessary in order to justify the reason for the supplementary appropriation stating that the projects executed so far underscores the prudent management of funds by the prosperity administration.

Mr Monday-Obolo and Elemeforo, who described the projects as key, appreciated the company handling the projects for ensuring that the jobs will be delivered in due time, considering the extent of works so far accomplished at the moment.

In a remark, State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Moses Teibowei, noted that government is working assiduously to ensure that the projects are completed at the stipulated time.

Mr Teibowei, described CCECC as strong and dependable stakeholder in the drive towards actualization of the road projects, pledged to leave a worthy legacy in the infrastructural development of the State.
