Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State, over the weekend led prominent personalities within and outside the shores of the State to observe the 13th State annuel thanksgiving.
The 10,000 seater capacity of the Ecumenical Center, Igbogene was filed to brim as former military administrators of the State, captains of industry, the political class and other dignitaries from other walks of live joined the governor to mark the 13th annual thanksgiving.
Speaking at the event, Governor Diri expressed gratitude to God for finding him worthy to be used as an instrument to engender peace, stability and appreciable development to the state.
The Governor who emphasized the importance of thanksgiving urged the clergy and the people to sustain their prayers and support for the state.
He expressed appreciation to God for their re-election and also for seeing them throughout the litigations.
Highlighting some of the achievements of his administration, the governor thanked God for giving his predecessor the wisdom to institute the State Annual Thanksgiving Day.
According to Governor Diri, critical infrastructure such as roads, health facilities, the airport, educational facilities and public buildings including the three senatorial district roads are some of the lofty projects that has elevated the status of Yenagoa, the state capital.
Governor Diri, who urged the people to exude bitterness, love one another for the over rule development of the State, also urged to leave a worthy legacy for posterity.
In his goodwill message, General Overseer of the Royal House of Grace International Church, Apostle Davide Zilly Aggrey, stressed that the importance of Thanksgiving cannot be over-emphassised urged the living to make thanksgiving a lifestyle
Apposle Zilly Aggrey, appreciated God for using Sani Abacha to create Bayels State, saying that it was the essence for the annual thanksgiving
He noted that one of the reasons for the people to ThankGod is, for God’s miraculous creation of Bayelsa State.
The clergy decreed that any blessing belonging to the State by the virtue of the state reverencing God will be restored.
Other dignitaries at the event were the State Deputy Governior, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakolpor, for the immediate past Governor Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, Senator Konbowei Benson, Fred Agbedi, Chief Oforji Oboku, Mr Rodney Ambaowei.
Others were Captain Paul Edoor Obi, Caleb Oluboladei, SSG, members of the State executive council, members of the state assembly, members of the judiciary among others.
