•••Diri Tasks PDP Governors On Stronger Party
Bayelsa State Governor, Douye Diri has called on Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governors and other stakeholders to put machineries in place to build a strong and indivisible political party at the national level.
Governor Diri, made the call during the inauguration of the newly elected executives of the Bayelsa State chapter of the PDP at its secretariat in Yenagoa.
The governor who described the crisis rocking the national leadership of the party as a temporary setback, noted that with unity, the party would come out stronger.
He charged the state executive members of the party to stay focused, reminding them of the onerous task ahead to lead the party to subsequent electoral victories.
The State chief executive, who also charged members to continue being faithful and loyal to the ideals of the party, noted that the party will reward loyalty.
Governor Diri urged the Exco to consolidate on its achievements as well as work hard to ensue that the party continue to maintain its dominance in the State.
In his acceptance speech, State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Solomon Aguanana expressed appreciation to the governor for the trust to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.
Chief Aguanana who re-elected for a second term assured that the executives would do all they can to continue to reposition the party towards wining all elections in the State.
He said that the leadership of the party under the governor has built structures the new Exco will consolidate on while thanking the Governor for the many development projects across the state.
Earlier, Presenting the newly elected leadership of party to the governor, Zonal Secretary of PDP, Chief Felix Omemu, appreciated the governor for his leadership style, describing it as characterized by tolerance, inclusive and devoid of rancor.
Signing of oath of allegiance and oath of office climaxed the event.
