Managing Director, Bayelsa Electricity Company Limited (BECL), Engineer Olice Kemenanabo says power supply is expected to be restored soon as final lap of repair works ongoing on the vandalised towers at Ahouda West local government area of Rivers State.
Engineer Kemenanabo, stated this while inspecting the final phase of the ongoing rehabilitation works on the 132 KV double circuit transmission line that radiates from Ahouda to Yenagoa transmission station.
The MD of BECL, said the State government will soon invite Transmission Company of Nigeria Port-harcourt region team for a joint inspection of the line in preparation for the commissioning of the line.
He stresses that the assets are owned by TCN and not State government, maintained that government mobilesd resource to assist in repairing the assets
because government was passionate about its citizenry.
Engineer Kemenanabo who said government had already completed the rehabilitation of the original scop of the power that collapsed at Ula-Akpata, in Ahoada West LGA of Rivers State however, said some hoodlums vandalised a phase out of one circuit on the line between tower 39 and 31 which government has also completed.
While calling on those politicing the issue for political gains to desist, Engineer Kemenanabo urged those with intent to protest in the state of over the light situation to channel their protest to TCN regional headquarters in Port Harcourt or to their corporate headquarters in Abuja.
