Be Agents Of Positive Change In Bayelsa-Gov. Diri Urges Corps Members.

Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has enjoined the 1,667 corps members deployed to the State to be agents of positive development in their host communities in the 

state.

Governor  Diri, who gave the advice during the opening/ swearing in ceremony of the 2024 Batch C, stream 1 Corps Members held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Bayelsa State, assured them  of memorable experiences in the state. 

Represented by the Commissioner for Youths Development, Mr Alfred Kemepado, the governor said the state government remains a key critical stakeholder  in the   security and welfare packages that will make the state a home away from home.

The State chief executive, who  welcomed them to the state, implored them to be committed to  ideals and objectives of national service.

 He commended their dedication, and encouraged them to embrace the  new chapter with optimism. 

Governor Diri assured them of government’s commitment to sustainable infrastructure for their development,urging them to remain positive and focused on their future as leaders.

Earlier In her welcome  address, State  Coordinator of NYSC, Mrs Charity Okpalifo, thanked  the governor, collaborating partners and other  guests for their presence.

Mrs Okpalifo, highlighted the objectives of the orientation course and advised  1,668 corps members deployed to the state to embrace the service year with  all the seriousness  it deserves, noting that programmes have been designed to adequately prepare and equip them for optimum performance. 

She enjoined them to shune all forms of social vices and  actions  detrimental to the image of the scheme during orientation course and in their various places of primary assignments .

The State NYSC coordinator  specially thanked Governor Diri for his immense support.

Highlights  of the event were  the administration of National and NYSC Pledges on the  corps members by the  representative  of the State Chief Judge, Hon.  Justice I. Eradiri. and    tug of war special demonstration by the corps members.
