Over forty Civil Servants from grade level seven to seventeen cadre of the Bayelsa State Civil Service Commission, have commenced a training programme to enhance productivity in their various offices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The three day capacity building programme with its theme \u201c Advanced Contemporary Issues in Work Ethics and Value Re-orientation\u201d was put together by the state civil service commission in collaboration with the Yenagoa Area office of Industrial Training Fund, ITF.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In a welcome address, Head of the State Civil Service, Mrs Biobelemoye Charles-Onyema, said the training was geared towards developing the capacity of officers and ensuring the training and re-training of workers to make them productive while in service.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs Charles-Onyema, who described training and retraining as a catalyst of enhancing efficiency in the civil service commission, commended ITF for the initiative, and urged the participants to take advantage of the training to enhance their capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She charged participants to be steadfast in the discharged of their duties and use the knowledge that would be acquired during the 3-day worship to add value to the civil.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Declaring the workshop open, State Chairman of the Civil Service Commission, Mr Buruboyefe Perekiye, cautioned against lukewarm attitude to duties by staffers of the commission, pointing out that job performance, discipline and total compliance to ethical rule will not be compromised.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mr Perekiye, frowned at a situation where staffers of the commission trivialize their duties and engage in gross misconduct such as truancy and other unethical conducts, stating that government will not fail to wield the big stick on such persons.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Appreciating Governor Douye Diri for approving the training, he assured of same programme for grade level one to six cadre of the commission just as he also urged them to bring their knowledge to bear in the system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Also speaking, Yenagoa Area Manager of ITF, Mrs Stella Baiyere, noted that the training was aimed at enhancing the capacity of the workers for efficient and effective service delivery, saying the training being conducted by the ITF in partnership with the commission would last for three days.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mrs Baiyere, who said the importance of training cannot be overemphasized, hinted that ITF will soon empower artisans with requisite knowledge, tools and resources needed to succeed in their respective fields as part of efforts to curb unemployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Speaking on behalf of other participants, Mr Ikierigha Lucky, described the training as a welcome development and thanked the state government for collaborating with ITF to organize the workshop.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
